Assessment of Lithuania’s advantages in semiconductors and optoelectronics sectors

7 September 2023 - 1 March 2024

Problem

Foreign Direct Investment (FDI) plays a crucial role in stimulating economic development by bringing in capital, technology, and expertise from abroad. To attract FDI, Lithuania needs to offer a competitive value proposition that sets it apart from other countries.

Recent trends of friend-shoring have created new opportunities in Europe for semiconductor industries.

Lithuania’s optoelectronics ecosystem is already well-respected globally, which could be further expanded with incoming overseas investment.

Throughout the project, managers delve into various sectors of the electronics industry that could attract the attention of international companies. After initial exploration of the electronics sector, the fields of semiconductors and optoelectronics were chosen for further analysis as the most promising ones.

Goal

The aim of the project is to identify the regional advantages that can be leveraged to attract FDI in the semiconductor and optoelectronics sectors and create recommendations on promotion and improvement of Lithuania as a business environment for these sectors.
