Motivation

I’ll start with a short bio about myself – I earned my first capital at the age of 16 and was immediately drawn to finance and investments. As I was hungry for knowledge and new challenges, I decided to go to study economics and finance in Scotland at the University of Glasgow. During my studies, I had the opportunity to go to California and broaden my horizons and theoretical knowledge even further (apart from studying, I would ride a beach cruiser to lectures, surf between lectures and enjoy the sun 24/7…)

However, the practical side always fascinated me more than the theoretical side, so during my studies I was actively involved in various extracurricular activities – Adam Smith’s Economics Society, the Investment Advisors Council (with a team of 10 students we managed a portfolio of 70,000), the JKLJS, the University of Glasgow’s Lithuanian Community, and also other investment banking related clubs. During my studies, I did three internships in London at some of the largest US investment banks – Morgan Stanley and Bank of America, and Merrill Lynch, working in the markets department. But while the fast pace of life, the daily challenges and the opportunity to learn from the best were fascinating, there was a detail missing from the job that proved crucial at the time. After gaining skills and knowledge, I decided to make a small turn in my career and take up the challenge of returning to my home country – Lithuania. “Create Lithuania” is in my opinion one of the best initiatives in Lithuania, so to say NO to this opportunity was impossible. I am happy and proud to be one of the first participants!
