Lithuanian residents are invited to share their views on travel habits across different cities throughout the country. An online survey, launched by the Create Lithuania programme team in collaboration with the Ministry of Transport and Communications, will remain open until 28 July.
The aim of the survey is to understand how people perceive different modes of transport – such as walking, cycling, public transport, and private cars – and how they evaluate connectivity infrastructure in their municipalities. The survey also aims to identify barriers to sustainable mobility and understand what could encourage residents to adopt more sustainable ways of travelling.
Participation is anonymous, and respondents can complete the survey by following this link.
The collected data will be used by Create Lithuania project managers Kimberly Kreiss and Greta Šimeliūnaitė, in partnership with the Ministry of Transport and Communications, to develop a Sustainable Mobility Index.

“As part of the Create Lithuania project, we are developing a methodology to measure progress in sustainable mobility across municipalities. People’s habits are a crucial part of the system, so collecting data is essential for tracking change,” says Greta Šimeliūnaitė, data analyst.
Her colleague, Kimberly Kreiss, a public administration specialist, adds: “We’re working to understand the barriers to sustainable mobility so we can help design more effective solutions. Municipal-level data will allow us to identify the specific challenges faced by different regions.”
Gintarė Janušaitienė, Head of the Sustainable Mobility and Innovation Group at the Ministry of Transport and Communications, notes that growing attention has been paid to the development of sustainable mobility in Lithuania since 2014, with investments supported by both national and EU funding.
“Cities are adapting and increasingly introducing sustainable mobility solutions to their streets, giving residents more alternatives to private car use. Together with the Create Lithuania team, we are developing an index to measure how sustainably Lithuanian cities are moving. The input of survey participants is an essential part of this process,” says G. Janušaitienė.
