First projects unveiled: Create Lithuania participants to showcase their achievements

13 March at 10 am. the results of the first projects implemented by the participants of the 2024-2025 Create Lithuania programme will be presented at Palace of the Government of the Republic of Lithuania. The event will also include an expert panel discussion on talent attraction policy and the future vision for Lithuania.

Interested parties are invited to register before 9 March.

11 projects in six months: driving economic transformation

From September to February, participants of the Create Lithuania programme worked across various public sector institutions to drive economic transformation. Project managers focused on strengthening the green economy, exploring initiatives like introducing circular economy practices in Lithuania’s construction sector, fostering international and national partnerships to promote sustainable solutions from Lithuanian businesses, enhancing the decarbonisation of industry, and developing a green skills policy.

Innovation acceleration was another key priority. Participants will present recommendations on integrating technological insights into S3 planning strategies, along with suggestions on how regulatory tools can help Lithuanian companies develop innovative products. Additionally, a project on advancing social innovation within the creative industries, in collaboration with other sectors, will be shared.

The event will also feature a study on the welfare of allied troops stationed in Lithuania, proposals to offset the shrinking workforce with new technologies, strategies to strengthen regional economic specialisation, and a roadmap for harnessing the potential of Lithuania’s microbiome sector.

Talent attraction policy in focus

The upcoming event will bring together experts from the public, private, and academic sectors to discuss the future strategy for talent recovery and attraction in Lithuania. The 19th Government Programme outlines plan to encourage expatriates to return to the country by not only expanding existing career and integration programmes but also by enhancing the overall coordination of support measures. Additionally, Lithuania’s vision for 2050 includes a focus on implementing a sustainable demographic policy.

The panel discussion, titled “Reclaiming Talent: Lithuania’s Challenges and Opportunities for the Future,” will delve into how these plans will be put into practice.

As challenges like geopolitical tensions, population decline, climate change, and rapid innovation continue to shape the labour market, the need for skilled talent becomes ever more pressing. How can Lithuania attract and retain the necessary workforce? While the country’s growing economy presents opportunities to attract highly skilled professionals, successful integration strategies are vital. One key question will be whether Lithuania’s migration policy should focus solely on its diaspora or expand to include foreign talent. If the latter, the Diaspora Friendly Employer Initiative could be broadened, alongside exploring other measures to ensure the country remains competitive in the global labour market.

Moderated by Tadas Vinokur, Adviser to the Prime Minister, the panel will feature insights from:

  • Agnė Kavaliauskienė, Senior Adviser, Talent Policy Group, Ministry of Economics and Innovation.
  • Tadas Kubilius, Head of Return to Lithuania Division, Global Lithuania Department, Ministry of Foreign Affairs.
  • Edita Karosienė, Associate Professor, Future Engineering Programme, VILNIUS TECH, and alumna of the Create Lithuania programme.
  • Ineta Lapuchinaitė, Head of Employer Branding, Telia Lietuva.

The event will be held in Lithuanian, with interpretation available in Lithuanian sign language and English for discussion’s part.

The event is organized by the Create Lithuania team and the Office of the Government.
