I lived, studied and worked in the United Kingdom, China and France for six years. All this time I carried Lithuania with me – both in my head and in my heart. As soon as I had the opportunity, I went back. If there was no such opportunity, I myself created Lithuania around me – by bringing together the communities of Lithuanians living abroad to cook hundreds of “cepelinai” or compete among themselves on the basketball court; by shooting a Lithuanian television show in the Tuileries garden near the Louvre; by volunteering for Lithuanian organisations despite being thousands of kilometres away from them
Lithuania’s achievements make me jump for joy (and pride), whereas stagnation, mistakes and failures give me a headache. That’s why nothing motivates me more than the opportunity to generate positive changes so that everyone has as many reasons to jump as possible. I have worked towards that for quite a while now by helping several non-governmental organisations to alleviate poverty, reduce gender stereotypes, create civil society and popularise science.
Now is the time for the public sector. New challenges and… new opportunities to create changes!
