Motivation

Before returning to Lithuania, Aneta worked and studied in many different countries, including Trinity College–Hartford in the United States, University of Oxford in the United Kingdom and UWC Adriatic – Collegio del Mondo Unito dell’Adriatico O.N.L.U.S. in Italy. Her last stop was Nepal, where she managed a $1 million Post–Earthquake Response Project and supported the establishment of Bikas Udhyami, a new social innovation hub. As an avid traveler and development professional, Aneta observed gaps in healthcare systems globally and identified stigma that prevents mental health from having the attention it deserves. A large unmet need for mental health conditions in Lithuania presents a great number of opportunities and Aneta is committed to transforming the field.

Aneta says: Mental health challenges around the world require inter–agency collaboration and innovative solutions. In Lithuania, there are especially many problems in this area, but there are also plenty of opportunities to act and implement positive changes. I am glad that the “Kurk Lietuvai” program aims to contribute to these important works. Ten years ago, I went to study in Italy, where I became interested in psychology. Since then, I have studied and worked in 5 countries, and I have constantly sought to improve myself so that I can help others more effectively. My goal is to improve public mental health and I am looking forward to applying my experience in Lithuania.
